Jackie learned the art of gem cutting in 1983 while living in Texas. In 1986 Jackie opened Jacquelines Lapidary Co. which provided gemstone cutting for jewelers in the Detroit-Metro area. Gem stone cutting piqued Jackie's interest in jewelry design and resulted in her creating a unique line of jewelry. Jacquelines Lapidary Co. "gave birth" to Jackleens Jems in Warren, Michigan in 1991.

The art of gemstone cutting is an integral part of the jewelry making process. Jackie is passionate about the colors and quality of the stones in her jewelry. The response from her customers always reminds her of this. She is excited to know that people all around the globe are wearing her designer jewelry.

The quality of a piece starts with a good design. The use of wire is a self-taught technique that lets our imagination flow into many free-form shapes. In-house stone cutting and metal-smithing offer customers a multitude of choices in the design process of a custom piece. Jackleens Jems also makes many of their own clasps and her earring hooks are a patented design (Patent # 6925838).
